Since its establishment in 2002, RUDES has been
able to cover over 75000, which is about 35% of the Baitadi population with
services reaching to 4 districts across the country. RUDES is dedicated to
supporting people from poor communities to gain access to safe drinking water,
hygiene education, financial literacy, livelihood, advocacy irrespective of
gender, caste, ethnicity or class. With the support of its funding partners, RUDES
has actively been contributing to Nepal’s WASH/Livelihood Sector significantly,
with a focus in the rural areas of Baitadi district in Nepal. RUDES is
dedicated to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through contributing
in Sector Development Plan of Nepal. Sustainability of water and sanitation/livelihood
services is a mounting issue in the sector. Hence, in recent years, our
capacity building focus has been on strengthening institutional and managerial
capacity of WASH/income generation stakeholders to ensure that systems are put
in place for long term sustainability and functionality of services. In order
to ensure sustainability of the water systems built in rural areas of Nepal, RUDES
has robust implementation as well as monitoring mechanism in place. Since its
establishment, The fiscal year 2018/19 has been a year full of challenges and
learnings. I am grateful to the dedicated staff; our funding partners, RUDES
Executive Board; community people; government and non-government organizations
for their support and cooperation to make this year yet another fruitful year
for us. As we enter into the new strategic plan period 2018- 2022 and prepare
ourselves for the ‘Post 2018/19’ agenda, I look forward to your continued
support and enthusiasm.
